Rare & Extraordinary

I am all about the narwhals, right now. I have some new sets and a couple of old ones with narwhals. They're like water unicorns so how could I not get them?!

With this card I went really clean and simple. Thanks to my friend, Kerry, for the idea to use the C9 Lace Leaf shadow as water. How clever is that? You know I love stretching my supplies! I sprinkled a few of the clear dots around--did you know you can color those with Copics? I happened to have some blue ones on hand but thought about coloring one a shade darker. I did add some additional water splashes using Glossy Accents. You can just see those in the pic. The narwhal is popped up and is so girly girl with blush and additional eyelashes drawn in with a Copic Multiliner 0.1. Naturally the horn and sentiment are in gold--remember, water unicorn!

I'm entering this in Addicted to Stamps and More #244 CAS, Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes, Watercooler Wednesday 120 Anything Goes

My Favorite Bookroom Indeed

One of my other nephews will be heading into high school next year.  What the heck! I remember when he was just a chubby little baby. Time flies, time flies. Now like his aunty, he loves reading so I pulled this together for him. A bit of masked stencilling in the background, layered images for depth, and even some visual texture on his clothing using a scrap piece of denim and Copic blending solution. I really like the rectangle window die--a simple way to draw attention to the sentiment.

Stamplorations CAS #17 Mid-Challenge Reminder

A little reminder for our current challenge at Stamplorations CAS using the optional color twist of feminine colors. Do join in!

For my card I took Stamplorations Floral Bliss and stamped it over the top portion of the card in pale pink.  I also stamped it on watercolor cardstock and used Distress Oxides and Zigs to color them. I like the effect of this bunch of blossoms coming out of the card. For the sentiment, I used Cutplorations Sweet Spring Wishes, cutting it twice--once from leftover dogwood blossom pink and once in black for a shadow.

Use the code STAMPGIRLTONI to get 20% off all regular- and sale-priced stamps, stencils and dies! This code cannot be combined with any other discount codes. Happy crafting!

Happy Belated Birthday, Kerry!

A birthday card for a crafty friend of mine. Kerry loves the randomness of smooshed watercolor backgrounds so I thought I would incorporate that technique into my card for her.
  • A combo of Distress Ink and Oxide used, with drying between layers to avoid muddying, then a spatter of plain water
  • The trunk is also smooshed with some more-or-less careful masking
  • The tree background is cut from non-watercolor cardstock so the trunk has a pebbled texture due to the application of water during smooshing
  • The leaves are smooshed too
  • The fairies are colored with Copics (RV0000-RV00 for wings, RV21-29 for outfits)
  • Wink of Stella on like everything tho invisible in the picture--leaves, wings
  • The tree coverplate is inset
I based my colors on the current THD Challenge 12.  I hope you plan to join in the fun!
