Faux Photographed Flowers

This was quite a challenge for me to use pastels as I don't have a lot of Copics and I tend to go deep with color.  Well, I love how this turned out.  I colored the cosmos like a type of delphinium I adore that has iridescent blue purple blossoms. Tried anyway :-)  You can't tell in the photo but I added Wink of Stella for faux iridescence.  Flowers are so my favorite things to color.

I had faux photo borders that I ended up not using for another project and used here to focus on the image but also to hide boo boos.  Be very glad you can't see the mess at the bottom or behind the first image--LOL!   Btw, I used a square and rectangle die to create the photo border.  Needs must.

Stars Can't Shine

I had watercolored a galaxy background a long while back and thought of it when I saw Inkspirational's Space challenge.  I diecut a portion of that background for this card and stamped and embossed the sentiment.  I spattered white watercolor paint on the navy background cardstock and mounted the galaxy panel on sticky-back foam.  I finished the card off with a sprinkling of rhinestones and dots of Glossy Accents for shine.

The Details:  Distress Inks and Gansai Tambi watercolors, Versamark, Stampendous Detail Fine white embossing powder, Simon Says stitched rectangle die, Avery Elle Look Up sentiment, Glossy Accents, Recollections white 110lb cardstock base, Bazzill navy cardstock

Birthday Bird Collage

I immediately thought of this new bird stamp in my stash when I saw the latest CAS(E) This Sketch.  I love the play of patterns--like a Japanese kimono, don't you think?

I stenciled the branches using my airbrush and Copic RV13.  I then randomly inked up the music stamp with Distress Inks.  The bird and sentiment followed.  I may go back and heat emboss the bird stamp.  I left it on the MISTI so I can use Versamark and clear embossing powder.  Maybe tomorrow.  Ooh, will the sequins melt?  I bet they will.  I can easily pop those off and reattach them.  Whew!

The Details:  Memory Box Garden Leafy Branches stencil, PTI Mixed Message sentiment, Crafty Individuals CI-248 bird stamp, Heidi Swapp music stamp, VersaFine Onyx Black, Distress Ink Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade, Simon Says stitched rectangle die, Recollections white 110lb cardstock base, 12x12 mystery striped cardstock from stash, Copic RV13

Ice Cream Girl

I was in a summer mode when I colored this one up.  Wishful thinking--cold and wet here the last few days, but a few sun breaks.  And who am I to argue if it's too wet to get in the garden to weed and instead I'm forced to spend time crafting?  ;-)

Just Peachy

I'm giving this card  to a college roommate's mom who is now is assisted living.  I was really saddened to hear that.  It turns out she lives just a few miles from my house so I will be visiting her tomorrow.   I hope this card brightens up her day.

I'm still playing with the Copics and enjoy them so much.   I find that they're quickly becoming my favorite coloring medium, even over my beloved Distress Inks.  I can just pick them up and start whereas with Distress Inks I need a cup of water, a towel, etc.   Plus I have to keep the cat out of the water!   With this card, I kept the colors really simple using only shades of green, yellow and orange-reds.  Pinks and purples next time maybe.

The Details:  Penny Black You Are a Peach by Mo Manning, Hammermill 80lb coverstock, Recollections 110lb white cardstock, Copics, Memento Tuxedo Black, Lil' Inker Shiny Happy sentiments, Sakura white pigment pen, Simon Says stitched rectangle die

You Are Unique

I could not resist this round of the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers--talk about right up my alley. This time the theme is J for Just Kidding.  Btw, I was also inspired by CAS(e) This Sketch #117 but missed the deadline by a lot. :)

I started off with the sentiment then thought about the ways uniqueness is illustrated visually.  Do you like my take on it?  The card seems all love you nice and then you open it up and it's love you LOL nice.  :-)

Serene Tree

I think I made a resolution to do Christmas cards thoughout 2015--maybe one a week--something like that.  Ha!  Double ha!

I created this for the current One Layer Christmas Challenge #7.  It's anything goes with the optional twist of blue.  I masked my center then sponged Distress Inks of various blue shades.  I next stamped the tree in a ligh blue which I didn't like so stamped again in a darker one--nice shadow effect there, by accident.  The sentiment is embossed.  I love silver and blue.  I used a white pigment pen for the stars.

The Details:  Distress Inks, Hero Arts sentiment, Judikins tree stamp, Recollections fine detail silver embossing powder and 110lb white cardstock

Dino Birthday

One of my nephew is coming up on 12 (!!) so I figure he is beyond cutesy but not so beyond that I can't have a little fun coloring up a dino scene.  Back when I was a kid I had a dino coloring book and colored everything boring monochrome because that's how dinos were portrayed back then.  Thank goodness for Jurassic Park!  Check out this guy's plates!  Shabam--don't mess with me, romantic rivals!  LOL.

As you can tell I embossed and actually cut some pieces to make them pop even more.  The rocks and his rounded body are embossed too.  I tried embossing the tree trunk but didn't like how it was going.  Let's see.  Oh, I airbrushed a pale blue sky.  Also masked a bit both when stamping and airbrushing.  The shadow?  Added that because I picked up the wrong pen.  I know you know what I'm talking about!

The Details:  Lawn Fawn Critters from the Past, Bazzill green cardstock, Recollections 110lb white cardstock base, Memento Tuxedo Black, Technique Tuesday Monsters Ink partial sentiment (I liked the font), lots of Copics including YG11, YG13, YG17, YG63, YG67, E00, E30, E35, E37, E53, YR24, Y19, R29, B26, N0, N5, N7

Strawberries

This month at the House of Cards we ask you to use a butterfly and/or our color palette.  I did both--no, no, not on the same card--your eyes are not deceiving you!  Honestly I had no intention of using the color palette but while I was coloring these strawberries unrelated to the challenge, it occurred to me how easy it would be to incorporate all those colors.  Dude!   I love it!  And now I want some yummy strawberries, my favorite fruit!

Do play along with us this month.  There are soooooooooooo many possibilities--who knew?!.  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

And do also stop by the blogs of my teamies.  Always such fab creations to inspire us!
